A youthful looking face is every person’s dream, especially women. You want your face to look appropriate for your age, or even look younger. Most of us follow the regular skin care regime; cleanse, scrub, tone, moisturize.
Every once in a while we steam, apply face mask, exfoliate and such other practices aimed at keeping the skin glowing. These regimes sometimes work, and others not so well. Is your face still showing fine lines?
Here are some of the reasons why your skin could be aging prematurely:
Sleeping with Make-up
Chances are you often purpose to give some attention to your face before you sleep, but by the time evening comes there’s hardly any energy left. After a long day at work followed by house chores in the evening, don’t you just want to slump into bed and sleep? The face can wait for tomorrow right?
Don’t be surprised when the skin does not look as radiant as you expect after your facial the following day. Make –up looks good on the skin, but in essence clogs your pores.
The foundation, concealer, sunscreen, powder and creams lie on the pores of your skin all day. If you don’t remove the layers of make-up in the evening, you have your pores clogged almost 24 hours a day. Washing your face in the evening gives the skin the much needed time to breath.
Going Out Without Sunscreen
You may be of the opinion that sunscreen is only important when you’re going out to spend hours in the hot sun. In essence, sun screen is important even when spending time indoors.
Remember the UV/UVA/UVB rays of the sun go through glass windows. Make an effort to learn about various SPF levels and the appropriate circumstances to use them. Apply a mild sunscreen even when staying indoors. When going out, an SPF 30 will protect you against all types of rays.
The effects of sun exposure are often ignored as they do not appear right away, other than the sun tan. But prolonged exposure is one of the main causes of aging skin and wrinkles on your face and chest as it often leaves lines and dark spots. A good sunscreen can be a preventive chest wrinkle treatment.
Experimenting with Multiple Products
There are loads of beauty products in the market for cleansing, scrubbing, toning, moisturizing, concealing, eliminating wrinkles, lightening and so on. These products are formulated for the different skin types. Do you know your skin type? This should be the key factor when selecting facial products.
You don’t have to try every other product available. Find out what works for your skin and remain consistent. Even when a product does not seem to deliver the expected results, avoid ditching it too fast. Allow each product at least 6 weeks to settle in before you can see any changes. Remember every product exposes you to different chemicals, some of which may not be compatible with your skin.
In worst case scenarios, you can develop serious allergic reactions to these products. It is advisable to have some basic home medical supplies for such instances.
Lack of Sleep
Insufficient sleep affects several bodily functions, and the skin is not left out. Sleeping for only a few hours is not the only problem. Sometimes you’re asleep but the body is not really resting due to stress, disease or any other reason.
In both cases, you’re likely to get up with dark circles around the eyes and sagging skin. If this goes on for an extended period, the condition of your skin will be altered permanently. Ensure you have the recommended 6-8 hours of sleep every day. There are plenty of reasons why you should always get sufficient sleep, and now your skin is one more.
