Wishing For A Frost Free Fridge Right About Now

Now that the fundraiser for The Oral Cancer Foundation, which took up a lot of my time over the past two and a half months, is over, I need to get busy with some of the other not so fun stuff on my list of “to dos”. I have not accomplished nearly as much this year as I did last year, and I still have more than a dozen things on my list of stuff to do. I need to finish the flower girl dress so I can move on. That thing is holding me back. (Sorry, Stef–I love you and I love making the dress but it sure has been a challenge for me!) One of those things that really needs to be done is defrosting two refrigerators that I have in this tiny little home. Do you think it’s time?

Is it time to defrost?

Back in 2008 when our RV fridge went beserk, we bought one of those cheap fridge freezers to put in the living area of our trailer. So, now, when I defrost, I have TWO refrigerators to do. Yes, they are both small,  but it is still two of them to clean out, defrost and mess with. I love having more space to store veggies, and drinks, but oh! How I despise doing the defrost.

I have been trying to get FabGrandpa to let me get a frost free fridge freezer, but he says it would be too heavy and too big to put in our trailer. Dang it! I’ve been trying to think of what other things I could live without, to make the “weight room” for at least an apartment size refrigerator. But until he gets on board with the plan, I’ll be defrosting every 3 months or so. Anyone got an icepick!

That’s a job I wouldn’t want to do! I hope you will show pictures of the flower girl dress when it’s done.

I am probably going to put some more pics of failed efforts up today. Zipper! Blah!

Oh I do not envy you at all. I do however have an ice pick that I would be happy to send your way.

Thanks, Rachel. I am putting it off as long as I possibly can.

Ha! Two weeks ago I had a residential reefer installed in my rig! No more defrosting for me. 🙂 I hope you’re jealous…

My Mom and I used to defrost the HUGE freezer during the hottest day of summer and make snow balls. Good thing neither of these are very big. We have an AC fridge/freezer which is frost free and doesn’t keep icecream very long. Sure glad I have the other little fridge outside for summer food storage.

That sounds like a lot of fun doing it in summer. But in winter, not so much!

Oh, no envy there. I remember Mom defrosting our huge upright freezer. What a headache!

I remember those days before frost-free! It wasn’t too bad in the summer, but brrr! It’s not fun in the winter!
