Before I found out I have to eat a gluten free diet, I really enjoyed a good bagel with my coffee for breakfast. Now that I can’t have a “real” bagel, I really miss them. I have found some good frozen ready made ones, but since I live 85 miles from the nearest place to buy them, I don’t always have them on hand.
I decided today to try making some at home. Yes, Linda, I did burn them a bit, but you have to remember, 1. I live in an RV and the oven is quite tiny and the thermostat on it is not exact and 2. I live at an elevation of almost 9000 feet. Baking anything is trial and error. For the baking conditions I have, this first attempt at homemade bagels turned out pretty good. But Karen the bagels look perfect to me! Yummy! Do you mind publishing the recipe? I know one lady who is into gluten free diet. Maybe I can share your blog to her and let her get to know you.
I haven't tried baking bread in my whole life. I have no confidence. So I just buy them.
Only I'm not much of a bread eater either. And am bit picky with bread so…
Thanks for visiting my Scenic Sunday.
I'll add you to my fav list. 🙂

They don't look too burned to me. Hope they tasted good.

They look great. I too know the pitfalls of an RV oven. I was told to line the botton of the oven with the gas charcoal briquits or some of the unglazed Mexican tiles from the hardware store. Say's it is supposed to even out the heat distribution. Sold the RV before we got to try it. Later gal. Oh by the way did I ever tell you I am married to a real Southern Gentlemen from Georgia?

Those look great – how brave of you! I've never tried to make bagels before…gluten free or otherwise.

What an adventurous bake to try; under the circumstances your bagels look yummy. Did they taste good?

I didn't say anything….geeze, why did you have to drag my name through the mud over your bagels that look fine to me??? :/
