With a children’s farm, nature center, Japanese and Italian gardens, you’ll surely find something to enjoy during your time at Maymont.

Hollywood Cemetery Tour

Location: 412 South Cherry Street, Richmond, VA,

Designed in 1847 by John Notman, Hollywood Cemetery is open to the public. There are organized tours for people who want to learn more about this historical landmark. The cool thing about Hollywood Cemetery is that it is the final resting place for two presidents, six Virginia governors, two Supreme Court justices, 22 Confederate generals and thousands of Confederate soldiers. If you’re a history buff, then you’ll enjoy witnessing this cemetery in Richmond, VA.

Visit Virginia State Capitol

Location: 1000 Bank St, Richmond, VA

This building was designed by Thomas Jefferson in 1788 and has been a place for meetings of the General Assembly since that date. The Virginia State Capitol Building is open to visitors from 9 am to 5 pm Monday through Saturday, and 1 pm to 5 pm on Sundays. You really must take a stroll around this state capitol building, which was the first of its kind built after the Revolutionary War.

The Museum of Edgar Allen Poe

Location: 1914-16 East Main Street, Richmond, VA

Visit the oldest original building in Richmond, VA that’s open to visitors to experience the life of Edgar Allen Poe. This building was opened in 1922 and allows you to get a glimpse of manuscripts, letters, first editions, and other Edgar Allen Poe memorabilia.
