Over the years, I have bought several used cars. There are many ways to shop for a used car. Here are some of the ways I have found a used car to buy.
Ask Family and Friends
One way to find a good used car is to ask family and friends. You never know when someone you know is ready to trade in a car, or may have one for sale. Just asking around may net you a good used car. It might also find you with someone else’s lemon. The only way you have to know what you are getting is what the family member or friend has told you about the car. Sometimes, they might pad the qualities of the car just to get rid of it. You may also wind up paying too much for a good car because you don’t feel comfortable to ask them to come down on the price.
Look On Facebook Community Sales Pages
I check my community sales pages frequently, just to see what people in my area have for sale. From plants to clothing, and more, you can find all kinds of things for sale on Facebook. There are always cars for sale, too. You can find cars in all kinds of shape, from “needs work” to “runs great”, to “for parts only”. If you take your time, and go look at each car and test drive it, you might find a good car for sale in your area. However, it is going to take a lot of time and effort on your part to find the right car.
Used Car Dealerships
Going to a used car dealership is not going to guarantee that you have found the best car ever, but it takes a lot of the work and time out of looking for a car. You can check with Kelly Blue Book to see if the price is right, and haggle with the dealership to see if they will come down on the price. Also check CarFax to see if the car has had regular maintenance, and if it has been in any accidents or floods. Shopping at a used car dealership will also allow you to get financing if you need it, something a friend or family member won’t do for you. A used car dealership could be the best bet for shopping for a used car.
