Thank you to Depend for sponsoring today’s post about the #dropyourpants #underwareness movement
When I was a thirty five years old, a much younger woman than I am now, I had a problem that I didn’t like to talk about. It happened every time I laughed, which was often. It also happened when I sneezed, which in the spring and fall months was often due to seasonal allergies. And it didn’t matter where I was at the time. This problem was embarrassing, because I couldn’t hide it. My bladder leakage was quite severe, so that when it happened, my pants told the whole world about it.

I remember one time that I went to a local discount department store, and had just walked in. I took a few steps and then sneezed, and there was a puddle of urine on the floor. I had to turn around and go back home. And when my husband and I took a road trip from Atlanta to San Diego, I had to sit on a towel to keep from getting the car seat wet.
Back then, I tried everything I could think of to prevent the bladder leak from ruining my day. I tried wearing two pairs of underwear. I tried using a sanitary napkin, but no napkin could hold the amount of urine that was leaking. I don’t think they had Depend® For Women Underware with FitFlex™ Protection back then. If they did, I didn’t know about it. If I had known about it, I am sure they would have saved me from quite a few moments of embarrassment. But I did not know what to wear for bladder leakage protection.
