hamilton beach logoI received a Hamilton Beach 6 Qt. Programmable Slow Cooker from Hamilton Beach in exchange for this review and giveaway. However, all opinions are my own.

I have been looking for a new slow cooker ever since my old one stopped working, so I was happy to get one of these Hamilton Beach 6 Qt. Programmable Slow Cookers to review. When I worked outside the home, I used a slow cooker almost every day. I cooked all sorts of things in them, from soups and stews, to chicken, roast beef, meatloaf, and even baked potatoes. It was nice to come home from a long day at work, and have dinner ready to eat when I got there.

The lid has a slot for your spoon, so you won't leave it behind when you go to a potluck.
The lid has a slot for your spoon, so you won’t leave it behind when you go to a potluck.

I love the features of this slow cooker: It has clamps that hold the lid down tight, so that you can transport your slow cooker meal if you are taking it to a potluck or family get together. A slot in the handle of the lid holds your spoon securely so you won’t forget to take it with you or bring it back home.

You can set the slow cooker to cook by time, or use the temperature probe to cook the food to the desired temperature, or just set manually to cook on Low or High. Either way, this small appliance works for you to give you more time to do other things, whether you work outside the home, are a stay at home mom, or like me, you are retired. I would much rather be sewing or watching a movie than worrying over cooking dinner.

The large 6 quart capacity allows me to cook up a whole chicken, which is enough for me and Fabgrandpa and company, or enough chicken for 3 or 4 meals for just the two of us. That means I can cook once, and clean up once, and eat several times. Now THAT is truly a time saver for me.  Take a look at the video to see how easy it is to use:

One of my readers will win one!

I love that this can be programmed for specific times. I also love to cook a whole chicken for Hubz and me for more than one meal.

I love that this slow cooker includes a probe so that I can cook to a precise temperature.
I also love that it is large enough to cook a meal for 7+ people so there’s no worry if company stops by.

I like that the lid clamps down tight. This way I can safely take it with me when I bring it to potluck lunches or dinners.

I like the temperature probe. Some recipes call for cooking until a certain temperature is reached and I often misjudge and under or over cook. Thank you for the great giveaway.

I love the feature of the probe cooking on the Set & Forget 6 Qt. Programmable Hamilton Beach slow cooker. The ability to insert the probe, set the desired meat temperature and the Set & Forget® Slow Cooker automatically shifts to keep warm when the temperature is reached would be very handy.
