When I first heard about this app, Hot or Not, I thought it was an entertainment app, you know, like when they ask Who wore it best and show two actresses wearing the same dress. Well, I was really wrong about what I thought, because this is actually a dating site that works through the app. While I am not looking for a date, I have been looking for new friends in our area for Fabgrandpa and I to go places with and hang out with. And there is an option to check that says you are here to “make new friends”, so I decided to check it out some.
Hot or Not is actually an online dating app. You can download it to your iPhone, your iPad, or your PC. You then can sign in with Facebook, and it pulls your date of birth, your hometown, and your photo, and matches you up with other people who are using the app who are in your age group and are nearby to you. The name Hot or Not comes from you being able to decide it you think the person you are viewing is hot, or not. Once you click on the X for NOT, you are taken to the next photo of the next person.
This guy looks like he might be fun to hang around with. He definitely displays a sense of humor in his photo. I can also tell that he is patriotic by the T-shirt he has on, and that he has nice smile (trust me on that. I blurred out his face for his privacy.) He is also in an appropriate age group for me, if I was looking for a date or a dance partner. If you click on the heart instead of the X, and that person also checks the heart on YOUR profile pic, then you are sent a link to get in touch with each other. Simple as that! While I don’t think this APP is really for me, all my single friends out there who would like to meet someone in their area and age group, should definitely give it a try. Download the mobile app app here. Check out Hot or Not on Facebook, too.
Hot or Not just released a new version of their app, and they want you to help get the word out about it. Whether you are new to Hot or Not, or a seasoned user of the app, you can enter to win a $1000 Sweepstakes! The prize is a $1000 Gift Card to the retailer of your choice. The winner will be announced on February 15, 2014!

I remember when it was a website. I had no idea it was an app. I think it’s a great idea as long as you use it for fun. I know some people that have had their feelings hurt when somebody said they weren’t hot.

Hmmm – I think I am to much of a fuddy duddy to appreciate this. Whatever happened to just meeting people the old fashioned way? Oh well, this is definitely the wave of the future, isn’t it?

both of my older daughters met their guys on dating sites, so it is a “thing” that is working for some people. Becky and Rafe got married in 2011, and Becca and Ken have been together for several years now. The young people are just so busy working and going to school these days to have time to meet someone the “regular way”

I remember when it was a site and there was a big uproar about it. But I guess if you are looking for a date and looks really matter, then it would work.

I’m not looking to meet someone to date, and not sure that I would base my choices on looks alone. But, if you take the time to really look at the photos sometimes, you can see a lot about a person from their photo..

Nope, I haven’t heard of it. I’m kind of old fashioned and not very trusting, so even if I was in the dating scene (which I’m not, 20 years of marriage this year…woo hoo!)….I don’t know that I would use an app or the computer to meet someone.

My Dad tried a few dating sites after my Mom died and didn’t have much luck. But, I do know others who did meet on a dating site, so they are working. For me, I think they are scary as there can be so many “fake” people online.
