Do You Believe In Dopplegangers?

In modern times, the term “doppleganger” means someone who looks like you. It is said there are 8-10 other people in the world that look like you, no matter who you are. I haven’t met or heard about my own doppleganger, but take a look at this:

Becca and Tatiana
Becca and Tatiana

My daughter, Becca, is in the top picture in the center, wearing brown overalls. When she was in high school, she came home from school one day and told me that other students in her class noticed that she looks like Tatiana, daughter of Czar Nicolas, in the a picture that was in their world history books. She showed it to me, and I do have to agree that they look alike.  The hair, the posture, and the look on face that I have seen many times, all look the same. Tatiana is standing behind her father in the picture on the bottom.

For a closer look, here is another photo, this time with just the two of them. Becca is in the photo on the top, Tatiana is in the photo on the bottom:

Add to this photo evidence the fact that my grandfather was from Russia, and you might think that these two could be related in some way. Either way, cue Twilight Zone music…

What do you think? Does my daughter resemble Tatiana? Do you have a doppleganger? Have you ever met someone who looks like you?

So cool! Love family history stuff like this. She definitely resembles Tatiana somewhat. I say you contact the Russian Embassy and see if you can get upgraded to royalty status!

That’s awesome. I love this. IWhen I saw you post it on FB, I really thought that they looked alike! I agree with Andrew!!

When I was in college, I met a girl who was still in high school that looked just like me. i’ve not seen her since, and while watching Vampire Diaries (where they have dopplegangers) last night, I was thinking about her… Wondering if she’s gained as much weight as if I have! Haha!

That is so cool. I think there is a good chance there is some family relation along the way. Your daughter should search your family history and see if the two family lines meet somewhere. That would be fun.

I couldn’t see the resemblance in the first set of pictures, but it was definitely there in the bottom. How cool is that!

You should do one of those genealogical DNA tests to see if you are related. HA

They do look REALLY similar! I have never met one for me, either.

I wish there was a photo of me from the same angle when I was that age because it really is more than just a similar resemblance. Some of those photos I found of her were like looking in a mirror – it was weird. Also, this daughter is Olga, not Tatiana.

I definitely see it!! I have a few I’ve been told but my tattoos have kind of made some forget the other spots. In high school I had shorter hair than now and one time had it blue black. One of my teachers said I was a Joan Jett twin LOL.

They do look a like! I’ve never been told I look like anyone other than resembling a family member in this feature or that.

    They do look alike!

When I moved to Maine in 7th grade, on my first day of school, I had everyone asking me if I was related to some girl, in the class. Everyone swore we had to be related, but we’d never heard of each other. We both heard it so often that by the middle of the day we were sick of each other, without ever having met. We did meet at lunch, and agreed that there was a resemblance. We eventually became best friends.

They definitely look alike. Could be a good research project for Becca.
I’ve been told about some people who look like me but never met anyone.
