Years ago, when Fabgrandpa and I were in the process of getting rid of all our “stuff” so that we could move into a travel trailer and go on our adventure, it was hard to let go of some things. After the estate sale, and the yard sales, and the ebay sales, and the giveaways of things we had, we still had a big pile of things we needed to get rid of that wouldn’t fit into our new lifestyle.
Some of that pile of things was a massive DVD, CD and game collection. We love watching movies, listening to music, and for Fabgrandpa at least, playing PC games. But what in the world do you do with that ever-growing stack of discs when you have watched the movies for the twentieth time and played that game to completion three or four times?
Music Magpie is a good way to clear out the ones you no longer want, and make a few dollars at the same time. It is an idea whose time has come. To get started, just open an account on their website, then enter the barcode numbers of the DVD movies, music CD’s, and computer games. Their site will let you know how much those items are worth. You have to have a minimum of ten items, but that wouldn’t be hard to come up with around here, even after we have struggled to keep our collection down to a minimum for several years.
Next, print off the mailing label, box up the items you are selling, and ship them to Music Magpie for free! When your items have passed through their Quality Assessment process, they’ll send you your check for the total value of your Order! Easy Peasy! You get room to start adding more movies and games to your collection, and money in your pocket too! Selling your DVD’s, CD’s, and games couldn’t be easier!
I love this idea!
This is really cool!! I have loads of old CDs so this would be great!
I am SO bookmarking this – we have a HUGE collection of DVDs… collecting DUST lol
Such a great way to lighten the clutter load and make a little money!
Ohh….I have got some DVDs and old games of my children that I would like to unload. However, I don’t think they would like me too much if I did that.
That’s cool! I wish I had this a few years ago. I sold a huge box of CDs for like $5 at my garage sale. 🙁
So clever. I definitely need to do this. I’m in decluttering mode, too!
We have TONS of old CDs, DVDs and Video Games. For the most part, we now use services like Netflix
and Amazon Prime. I should definitely collect them all and look into this service!
Do they have an app for scanning them all in? That would be awesome! Sounds like a great service. I try to keep my collection a minimum but with kids they always seem to grow!
This is a great idea. I heard about this a couple months ago and I really think it is a good idea for all the different CDs and whatnot that we have that we no longer need!!!
Oh this is PERFECT for my 16 year old. He was just saying that he needed to sell his games because his Xbox broke. Thank you for sharing this! (now he can buy his own snacks after school lol)
Man, I love PC games. Haven’t played ’em in years. What are some of your hubby’s favorites?
And it’s nice to see an alternative to the same old eBay! I may have go to give musicMagpie a try.
You wouldn’t believe the stash of stuff we’ve collected over the years. Now, maybe I can, umm, bribe, the hubs to get rid of some.
Summer is the time for purging and this is a great way. I pinned it to remember for my next project!
I have 1000s!
I have a STACK of CDs waiting to be sold. I’ll have to check this out a little closer!
I have sooo many DVDs to get rid of.
Nice! If only they took records, I have a few boxes of those to get rid of. LOL! (Not the good ones, mind – just the excess!)
