On my last day of work, I had to be at the campground at 7:00 a.m., which meant getting up very early. I stepped outside to see this wonderful sunrise over the Transept Canyon. I really do have a fabulous view here.

I have been working as a seasonal park ranger at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon for five years now. I have tried for five years to get a picture of the Kaibab Squirrel, but the little critters are FAST! I was sitting at the campground kiosk yesterday, and happened to look up, and saw one just on the other side of the parking lot.

The Kaibab Plateau is the only place in the world where these squirrels live, but there a lot of them at the North Rim. I zoomed in on him, but he seemed to know that I was trying to get his picture again.

While it is not the best photo ever, I did finally get a picture of one of these unique squirrels. They are gray with a white tail. I was finally victorious!
Aww! That squirrel is so cute and unique! SO funny that today was the day he decided to let you snap his photo! Hope your day went well!
I just came across your blog and so glad I did! what a curious little fellow this squirrel is. Glad you were able to get a couple shots of him!
Must feel good to complete another year there!! I am sure you will miss it and your friends however. That squirrel is so beautiful!! Thanks for sharing that!! Happy travels!!
