This Week Is Not Going To Be Long Enough!

Getting ready!

We have exactly five more days before we leave on our trip to Arizona. And I have so much to do and so little time to get it done! I am excited about getting on the road, but anxious because I am not ready yet. And on top of getting all the little and big things done that need to be done, my son and his family just rolled into town with my grandchildren for a visit!

They are staying at a motel in our hometown, about 45 miles away. We just don’t have room in the trailer for five more people, and there is no furniture or hot water in the house. Tonight they are going to visit my mother, and my daughter-in-law said that Owen is so excited because he thinks he is coming to see ME!

We spent today running errands in Carrollton, about 30 miles away.  There was a Fedex package that needed to to shipped, the unemployment office to fill out some paperwork, to the library to pick up some IRS forms, Wal-Mart to get some prescriptions filled. There is still a long list of things to do, places to go, and packing to do, but they will all have to wait so we can visit Owen, Amelia, and Michael while they are here.

Tomorrow we’ll go to Douglasville and find something to do with the kids and grandkids, and go out to dinner with  the kids–Becky; Emily, Tommy and Spencer; and Seth, Sarah, Michael, Owen, and Amelia. That’s not really all of them, and we’ll miss all the ones who can’t be there with us.

Sometime before the end of the week, we’ll need to run up to Cedartown to go to the bank, get some groceries, and last minute things for the trip. And our neighbors want us to come over and cook out with them before we go! Can I possibly fit it all in???

Thank you Shawn! It was taken in 2010 the last time they all came to town.

You”ll get it done, I’m sure. Get all those grandkids to help you pack! 🙂

Yes ma’am, you sure can fit it all in. First off…think of how you felt when your grandson was hospitalized and how much your family meant to you at that time, so make time with your family your first priority while you can. Secondly, I’d take up that offer with your new neighbors for that cookout, they may prove valuable in home watching while you and FabGrandpa are away for the summer, and they are also going to be ya’lls friends and neighbors for possibly a very long time. All of the other doings will just fall into place in between your priorities. You know, one of the fun things I always liked when traveling was stopping at ‘new to me’ grocery stores. Perhaps you can mark grocery shopping off your list until you get down the road a bit after leaving home. And try to get lots of good sleep at night, that may give you a little more energy and you won’t be getting so frazzled! Yep, I’m confident you can do it all before you leave, because you’re a Fab Grandma!

We are definitely making family a priority. We are spending most of the day on Tuesday and Wednesday with them. Going out to dinner with my kids and grandkids tomorrow night, and having dinner at my Mother’s on Wednesday night. Thursday is up to them. My son wants to visit some friends while he is here, and he only has 3 full days here.

And yes, those neighbors are already hooked up to cut the grass and check on the house while we are gone. We definitely want to cook out with them on Friday or Saturday night. I know I can make it all happen, I just frazzled thinking about it.

      Thanks for the pep talk!

Why does it always seem like everything catches up with me towards the end of winter. I must work well under pressure, but still get frazzled like you. But we do it. Enjoy the family time. And see ya in a few weeks.

What a beautiful picture! Sure, it all seems too much right now. But, you’ll get the important stuff done and then you’ll see that gorgeous canyon again and it will be worth it. I’m kind of jealous.
