Now that we are buying a little house to live in part of the year, I have been thinking about what I need to stock the pantry with. There are all kinds of cute storage containers and bins that I have seen in stores and on the internet.
It is just mind-boggling thinking about how to store dried foods, cereals, pasta and rice. Yes, I do get a little carried away, but food is money, if you know what I mean? If things are not stored just right, even things like dried beans can go bad or little varmints can get into them, and your money is wasted.
We have already talked about getting a small freezer, because it will help in saving money by allowing us to buy meats when they are on sale, and to grow and freeze our own vegetables. I have even considered learning how to make freeze dried foods, or how to use a dehydrator. I have seen metal containers that would be great for storing expensive gluten free flours. They would freeze well, but what if we were gone to Arizona to work, and the electricity went off? There is just so much to think about!

Your kitchen look spacious and ready for your storage containers. Oh yes, money can be wasted if food isn’t stored properly. I find that here in the remote valley where we only get out to shop for staples and tinned goods (and meat) about once a month. Enjoy the planning!

Those little risers that elevate the items in the back so that they can be seen easily are my favorites. They don’t work for all items, but they make a nice display as well as being practical. I often get compliments on how my pantry looks!
