.One thing I thought that was fascinating as I read the book was the change in the language. Each had their own unique voice and I loved that Sapphire could capture the different experiences of these girls in such a way.So even though its an emotionally difficult book to read I highly recommend it.
Oh, I recommend it too. while it is hard to read, it was mostly because of all the things that happened to Abdul in the hands of an agency that was supposed to be looking out for his welfare. That is what makes it so compelling that everyone should read it, and get mad and demand that things change in the child protective services of this country.
