The mattress that was supposed to be delivered on Thursday didn’t arrive until Saturday. The delivery guys called at about 5:30 p.m. saying they were on their way, from Eutaw, which is about 35 minutes away. Around 8:30 p.m, they called to say they were at the locked gate. FabGrandpa jumped in the truck to go let them in, and less than half an hour later, the new mattress was on the bed. We had to special order it, because our bed is not a standard size. It only took them about two weeks from the time we ordered it for it to get here. Now I feel like a little girl every night when it is time to go to bed, because this mattress is taller than the other one–I think I need a step stool to get up in the bed. It sleeps like a cloud!
For those of you who want to know: we just walked into the closest mattress store, told them we live in an RV with a non-standard size mattress. They said they could have it made. It was a little less than $600 including tax, delivery and disposal of the old mattress. Best $600 we ever spent!
Today we went to Tuscaloosa for a fitting for my mother of the bride dress again. The sleeves on the dress were too tight–so tight in fact that I could not pull the dress up all the way for the bodice to be fitted. The seamstress had to alter the sleeves first so I could get the dress on all the way for it to be fitted for the bodice and length. Now that the sleeves fit, the bodice is too big. She is still working on it. I told her the last possible day I can pick it up is February 16th. The wedding is February 20th, and we will be leaving for Georgia on the 18th. I really don’t like cutting it that close, but I’m sure she’ll get it done in time. I asked FabGrandpa to take a picture while we were there, but it was not on the camera when I looked for it.
It has been three weeks since I stopped drinking diet sodas and gave up aspartame. I’m drinking lots of water, and while we were in town today I bought some lemons and limes so I slice them up and put them in for flavor. I’m not going to say I don’t still want the sodas, because I do, so I have to make a choice every day to stick to my plan. But, it’s just like everything else, if you want it bad enough, you can do it. So I am.

I am so proud of you. When you make a decision, you’re so good at sticking to it. I’m also jealous of the new bed. I really need to do something about ours, but then I get to feeling cheap about it. Can’t wait to see you in the altered dress. It’s so beautiful, and so are you.

Oh how I’ll have to share your mattress photo with my husband. Right now (we’re seasonal campers) we’re living on foam and a pillow top on top of the RV mattress….and it’s not cutting it. Jumping in ours (and I need a stool, too!) is like landing on cloud of puff–only to sink. I want to stay afloat!!! LOL!!
Good for you keeping away from soda and aspartame!!! It’s not that bad once you do it for a while and don’t have it in the RV. Instead for us, I stock my fridge with a case of bottled water for him (work) and for me, a brita.

Princess Grandma, special ring doesn’t it? I know I had the same problem with mine when we went to a deep box. Nice mattress it looks very comfy. What made you give up on aspartame? and soda? I had read about it and cut it out 3 years ago. Seems when you even have artificial sugar it tricks the body into craving something sweet. Anyway this is my report after 3 years no difference, not feeling, not weight, I don’t crave sugar often so that didn’t change and for sure it is way better for you not to have it. I have a diet coke about once a week now as hubby bought 4 cases on sale.

I love our mattress, but what I love even more is the heated mattress pad. We just recently bought our second one (first one was slowly dying after 3 years of use). With this very cold weather we’ve been having, getting into a warm bed is just delightful.
Did I miss your post about finishing the flower girl’s dress?

Our RV takes the standard Queen Size (60×80) mattress. The new one we got in 2009 is taller and we found that the sheets with the deeper corners fit better. Also if you can find sheets with elastic on all 4 sides, they will fit nicely and stay in place better. Sweet dreams!
