So, this week when we were in Tuscaloosa, getting the last minute alterations done on my dress for Becky’s wedding, I got a phone call from Emily, my youngest daughter. She started the conversation like this “Mom, are you sitting down?” Now, as a mother, for all of you who are mothers, don’t you just hate to hear that? You immediately start imagining the worst. And I can not even say out loud the things that raced through my mind when I heard her say that.
I said, “No, but I think I will be able to handle anything you can tell me right now.” I was after all, at the VA Hospital, so I think if I had fainted they would have at least come to my aid long enough to haul me to the civilian hospital across town. She says “I am pregnant.” and I said “Oh My Gosh!” She has been married for 19 years, and has one son who will be nine years old in April. But, she has said since she was pregnant with Spencer, before he was even born, that she did not want another child, that one would be enough. They weren’t trying to have another child, it just happened. And she is over the moon happy about it. And so am I!
I was so happy, in fact, that when I stopped at the fabric shop to get the brown fabric to complete my bedroom redo, I bought this cute baby quilt pattern:
I can hardly wait to make it!

that is wonderful that you are both so happy. I love the material. Did she tell you it was a boy? Dinosaur’s are kind of boyish. I just find all of this exciting.

Congratulations! Love the quilt pattern! I wish that when we went on the road I had kept my mother’s clown quilt pattern. It was so cute!

I love the dinosaur pattern. I think it will work for either a boy or a girl. Maybe you could add some butterflies or flowers if it is a girl. Don’t forget “RAWR means I Love You in Dinosaur!” Thanks Mom!

Congratulations! My youngest grandchild is 6, and I am starting to have a pang when I see cute baby clothes in the stores. Maybe someday I’ll get good news about another grand, but I’m not holding my breath!
