I LOVE A Challenge!

I have been making these wallets for a couple of months now, using a pattern called Koin Keeper from This & That by Sherri K. Falls. I bought it on Etsy, and have good sales from the completed items.

A black print zipper pocket wallet also for Donna M

Then, the other day, one of my best customers, Froggi Donna, asked me if I could make her one with the zipper pocket on the outside. Well, I took that as a challenge to see what I could do.  And here is what I came up with:

Purple Wallet
With the zippered pocket on the outside
and six card slots on the inside!

This design also gives three extra card slots, and an open “pocket” on the outside. This one closed with velcro, but I have magnetic snap closures too.

So, what do you think? Is it a “love it” or a “back to the drawing board” solution? What challenge do YOU have for me?  For instance, my sister wants a zippered bag to hold her wireless mouse when she travels. I’m just waiting for the measurements for that.  I am going to give this purple one away to one of my readers. Just comment, telling me what your challenge for me would be. I’ll pick a winner by random number generator. Remember to leave me an email address where I can get in touch with you if you are the winner. Give away ends November 6, 2010.

Great job! That is a beautiful wallet. The only thing I could think of is to add a small snap-close pouch on the inside. I guess that’s my challenge.

I think you did good. But I prefer the first one. It has a $20 sticking out of it!

Ooh, I like it! My challenge would be to use hidden magnets to close it instead of velcro.

Wow! You are talented. Haven’t seen you around for ages. Hope all is well.
Challenge: A very slim bag with a shoulder strap, The bag needs to be slightly bigger than a passport with a variety of zippered compartments for cell phone, pocket camera, cash and cards, asthma puffer and small hand sanitizer. I have a leather one which I have worn out. I use it for travelling. It is handy for restaurants and to hide under a jacket to avoid pick pockets.

    Karen,
Here’s my challenge. I’d love a fanny pack like the Escapees one, only without the logo and maybe a little bigger. Needs a regular clasp that can’t be pulled open like velcro. Yelows and browns would be nice, too. How’s that for a challeng? 🙂

I think it’s gorgeous and my challenge to you would be to make it a little longer so it could hold a book of checks as well.

Love the purple color! You are so talented. My challenge would be a little larger wallet with a long shoulder strap with a snap closure. I would like it not too large, really just large enough to hold my check book in length and it would need a zippered area for change.

    Happy sewing!

    Happy and safe traveling!

I like it just the way it is, plus it matches all my other purple FabGrandma bags.

Safe journey tomorrow. I saw Abert squirrels like crazy at the Flag KOA.

I love your work, and look forward to meeting you one day. I have the same interest as yourself and your blog is a great encouragement. I think you are a very talented individual and lets see as a challenge, I think I have two. I would say try one where the zipper runs across the top, of the wallet kind of like a man’s wallet as it is open and then add a coin pocket either inside or out. Oh, I hope Mr. Random likes me, I sure would enjoy using this little gem.

I love the purple one. Would also like to have a place to insert the plastic flipper thingie to hold wallet size photos. Gotta have those grands in there somewhere!

my mom has a really cool coin purse-years ago I found someone online to make her 2 more in leather. They are just for coins… inside is a plastic insert sewn in the purse that holds pennies, dimes, nickels and quarters. all the quarters go together etc… that way if she is at the store she can quickly open up that purse and make needed change. I haven’t seen these in years, and would love to find one that isn’t made of leather with the same insert that I can keep my own change in. I really like your purple wallet it is definitely user friendly with all those card slots.

I love it! The only challenge I can think of to add would be that it would be neat to have a string/ribbon in order to tie this either around the waist like a belt, or around the neck for a handy traveling purse or when hiking/walking.

I love the purple wallet, which I think will act as a springboard imaginatively for you! I’d like the challenge of a holder for my pens – I’m a writer and end up using so many during the day but am always losing them in my purse or in the outside world, which wouldn’t happen if I had a holder for them!

The softness of these would be great, I believe. Hope I win to try out & then put them on my Christmas list for everyone else. thanks

So cute! My only addition would be a small keyring attached so that it could be tucked away into the area where the bills are.

Cute! Im not a huge fan of velcro though. A magnetic closure, or snap closure would be my taste. The first one is definitely my favorite though! I like bigger wallets.
