In case you didn’t catch it in the last sentence of my last post, I LOST MY CAMERA! Can you believe that? I, who have my camera permanently attached to my hand, LOST MY CAMERA. I am so sad. So disappointed in myself for being so careless. So lost myself. How can I possibly blog without my camera?
SO, I am in the market for a new one. I really really really want a DSLR. I have never used an SLR or a DSLR, but I am so amazed at what you can accomplish with one. I am looking at the Nikon D3000 and the D5000, and at the Olympus E-Pl1. So, if you have used one of these, please let me know in a comment what you think of them.
Also, if you have an amazing digital point and shoot, let me know what it is and why you love it so. I need to get a new camera like, yesterday. Can you believe, I lost that camera with pictures of rare fog at the Vermilion Cliffs? A fabulous shot of a thunderstorm over the Painted Desert? A wonderful cloud formation over the San Francisco Peaks? or the happy, giddy, FabGrandpa’s face? I am in mourning, people!

My husband, the photographer – http://www.pbase.com/merriwolf has his real cameras and recently bought a point and shoot. It’s a Panasonic Lumix. See his journal entry – http://www.gordonwolford.com/News/News_Archive203.html. Since then a few others have purchased that model and they all seem to like it. I already had the Panasonic Lumix TZ5 and I love it! Gordon’s is an updated model. It’s easier for him to carry around than lugging his Canons with lenses.

someone else recommended that camera–and that photo of the heron that Gordon took with it-Fabulous!

I have both a DSLR (Nikon old D100) and a Ricoh CX3 point and shoot which I LOVE. One day I’ll upgrade the SLR but frankly I love having the point and shoot to hand, it has a great range, lots of settings to tweak and shoots hi def video too so it wins for me!

I wouldn’t go back to an SLR, I would miss all the convenience of a camera that slips into a pocket, but then again, maybe it would be harder to lose! I love my canon powershot SX120 IS. It does everything, 10mp, 10x optical zoom, close ups and does it well. I got it at Walmart. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Canon-10-MP-SX120IS/12321799 $199. AND at Walmart, they ship it to you for free AND you have 30 days to use it and return it (including the card) if you don’t like it. I have bought 2 digital cameras and both times I tried 3-5 cameras at Walmart to get just the right one. I realize, from where you are, you can’t just go to Walmart and pick another one, but online they do have more choices. If you can’t get to the store to return it you can ship it back but you will have to pay postage.

I don’t know about the Olympus DSLR or SLR, but my Olympus point and shoot does not take the best pics. I was much happier with the quality of my Kodak Easy Share pics. Hope you find a good one!

Sorry about your camera.
Just wanted to stop by and let you know I found your gluten free meatloaf recipe today and tried it. It was fabulous, thanks so much!
Fab Grandma says
I’m glad you liked the meatloaf–it is the only meatloaf recipe I have tried in my 40 or so years of cooking that I really like.
