So today I put the new oven thermometer in the oven and turned it on at 400 degrees. About twenty minutes later, the thermometer was showing 350 degrees. So THAT is why the things I have been trying to cook have not been turning out right.
After fooling around with the oven for an hour or so, I figured out that to get the oven to 400 degrees, I need to set it on 450 degrees. That should make things better as far as trying to make a cake or cookies.
And after all that, I made a gluten free pizza. The crust turned out pretty good. I baked it for 12 minutes at 400 degrees, then put the toppings on and baked for another 12 minutes. Perfect! Oh, and no picture of it because we ate it all!

Have you tried adjusting the temperature control knob? It’s very easy to do on an electric even, but I think it works differently for a gas oven. A quick internet search should give you some directions.

I realized the same thing about 2 weeks ago. For 350 I have to set at 400 and for 400, set at 450. I made brownies tonight at 400 and was perfect! Also I have to pre-heat for about 20 minutes!

I find my RV oven is too hot. My friend who grew up with RVs says they are often more like a convection oven and that’s certainly the case with mine. Several of my RVing friends put a square tile on the bottom shelf of their oven — they say it evens out the heat and does a better job of cooking the food. You might want to try it. I have a cooking tile from Pampered Chef that I plan to put in mine (when I find it in the pile of boxes I’m still fishing through after my move out of the house).

yeah, Mama has a crappy piece of crap oven that she bought a few years ago…I wouldn't put it in a trailer…no puns intended there. Ever since I have been going up there once or twice a week to cook and eat with her, I have to set the oven to 350 if I want 375…& then you still have to check on it…she has one of those oven thermometers too…ACE brand 😉
so here's to crappy ovens….said the finger
