We finally did feel better today, so we drove up to visit our friends Lynda and Charlie but they were not at home. And since I got that letter from the passport agency telling me that my birth certificate and passport photo was not to their liking, I decided to look for a place to get my passport photo take again. Well, for the first time, since I took the first one. And yeah, they accepted the one I took of FabGrandpa and printed myself, because they sent him his passport card, so I guess they just decided that no one could look as good as the person in my photo and rejected it as too good to be true, hahahah!
Did you know that the portrait studio at Wal-Mart does passport photos? I should have known, you can get everything else you need there. So, for $10.82, here it is:
They even put it in a little card case. After I got the pictures, I thought, well, what a coincidence, I am wearing that same orange shirt that I wear everywhere I go, so when I cross the border, I will probably be wearing the same shirt. See here, and here.
We went to Circuit City to see what was on sale because they are going out of business. But, the TV’s were not marked down much, and were still higher on a so called clearance sale than they were at Best Buy. We have been looking at the flat screen HDTV’s for over a year, but have just not found one in the price range we wanted to pay that we could both agree on, until today. No, the money for it did not come out of our spending money budget, because we have budgeted money for a new TV. We got a Insignia HDTV 22″:

Ooo, don’t tell N he wants a 42 inch for x-mas… I am not sure if we can spend that much right now.
I had to get my picture for my Canadian citizenship application. I am way to chicken to post it. I look like a convict. Hahaha!
Congrats on the TV.
Dahling…you like like you need a haircut…too bad you don’t have a Charmaine’s out there 😉 Is that the only shirt you have? Poor thing..perhaps you should budget in for a different color..although, the orange does look good on you. I’m jelous of the new flat screen. I’ve been trying to get Alan to let me buy one for the camper all year. His answer is always the same. NO! When it’s his idea then it will be OK to buy one. Oh well, such is life. I did buy me a new cell phone today on my New Every 2 plan with Verizon. A Chocolate 3…whoooooooo hooooooooooo!
Sure glad your feeling better. I used Wallys for my passport photo also.
Wow! What a cool TV.
Going to Prescott tomorrow for a geology lecture about the Colorado Plateau.
I got my passport photo at Kinko’s. That’s an awesome tv – I’ve been trying to talk Ken into one – I told him it will be better for my wii, but he’s not going for it so far!
He did buy me two new pairs of jeans though, so I really am not complaining!
Christine: the girl at Wal-Mart told me I was not allowed to smile for my passport photo, so I think mine looks like a mugshot too.
Linda: I am letting my hair grow out to about shoulder lenght, mostly because it looks like shit warmed over when I wear my ranger hat all day when it is short. The girls who had long hair did not have that problem.
Gaelyn, Talina, and Lupingirl: It was $349 at Best Buy. We thought it was a good deal.
If I were the person in charge of looking at passports in a foreign country and had to look at mine, I wouldn’t let me in
Did yo say 22 or 42 inch. If it’s 42 Jim can not read this blog!
Love the pic…..and the TV! How long will it take you to get your passport now? Did WalMart have the applications too?
Susan: No, I got the application online and printed it out. We went to the county courthouse in Kanab, Utah to submit them back in August, I think. But, it is different in each community, sometimes it is at the post office.
I just got the photos at Wal-Mart because my application was returned because they didn’t accept the pictures I took myself, and because my birth certificate did not have a clear date on it.
The whole photo thing irked me because they accepted FabGrandpa’s picture, that I took and printed out. Sheesh!
Excellent deal on the TV – we have bought four Insignias at Best Buy and have really liked them. No trouble with them, and they all have a nice, crisp picture.
Sorry I’ve been quiet so long – things are crazy (literally and figuratively) here. I’ll try to do better, I promise! 🙂
(((hugs)) Thim 🙂
