While I was out riding around the campground looking for a pink rose I had seen earlier in the week, I found this lovely flower instead. It was supporting itself in the rosebush. If I had not been looking for the rose, I would have missed this little treasure.
The existence of this little flower reminds me of the lifestyle my husband and I have made for ourselves. We have chosen to support ourselves by working in the campgrounds we want to visit, having been drawn there by the beauty of the surrounding area. We get a chance to stay longer, as if putting down roots if just for a little while, and explore an area more closely than if we were only able to stay for a week or two.
While we are there, we have the time to search for the everyday, the places where the locals eat, the sights they go to see, and the things they do for fun. And if what we find while we are looking is not exactly what we were looking for, the we change what we are looking for. You never know what treasure you may find just because you look for something else.

Hi Karen,
I ‘met’ you on one of the yahoo groups recently and had commented there that I liked your blog and when I had time, I wanted to go back and see more of it. So right now, I’ve started at the beginning and will skim through and see what I see; so far, it’s been great!
And I really love what you and your husband are doing, traveling around like you are, coming and going where you want, staying as long as you want, etc.
This has actually been a dream of mine to be able to do. If I could travel anywhere and time and money were not an issue, I’ve always said that I’d love to have an RV and check out this country of ours. Sure, it’d be nice to see some of the typical touristy areas-and I bet I’d check a lot of them out. But I’d really love to find the ‘real’ America, the towns, the cuntryside, the people and the food, etc etc. And I really enjoy the outdoors. When I was a kid, I was the only one in the family [of 7 kids] to spend any time in scouts; I was in girl scouts for years because I loved the camping! And during my more recent years, I’ve been on a number of camping trips while I lived in NC.
Anyway, enough rambling for one post/comment. I’m looking forward to reading more adventures of yours sometime soon!
🙂
