Y’all remember back in the winter when my face broke out? I have been doing several things to prevent that from happening again. My doctor prescribed an anti-biotic that I take three times a week. I will admit, it has been hard to keep up with what days I should take them, and some weeks I do better than others.
I also bought an SPF 100 sunscreen, and put it on every day when I have to work outside. The doctor told me that being out in the sun without a sunscreen is one the factors that would cause my face to break out again. So, I have been very diligent at putting on that sunscreen. I hate the way it feels on my face, but it is better than having an ugly rash.
When I wash my face, and when I moisturize, I try to use organic skin care products. I make my own soap–I have been making my own for more than 12 years, mostly because I want to know what is in the soap I use to bath with and to wash my face with. I also haven’t worn makeup in more than 20 years. I don’t even own any. I bought a lipstick last summer, but I only wore it once because I didn’t like the “taste” of it.
So far, I haven’t had that ugly rash again, and with any luck and the right skin care routine, I won’t ever get it again.

The Dr. put me on Duricef 500 mg 2x a day (anti-biotic) plus I have Erythromycin Topical Solution that I roll on my face 2x daily. I prefer the topical solution to the gel– that way I don’t have to mess with washing my hands as much and I don’t waste the stuff. Mine came on my face fast and was twice as bad as yours about 2yrs. ago. The main draw back I have is when I get real sick and need to take other anti-biotics they have to go through a few to find out which ones will work since I am already taking one and my system is getting immune to them. Not good when you’re over the 50 mark and the Dr.s really have to find what works for you. It takes longer and that means you are sick for a longer period.

Geez, I feel your pain! I keep telling my daughter that there must be some confusion in the universe because skin problems are suppose to be for teenagers, not for grandma’s. I, like you said, haven’t worn makeup in years so what the heck?! I gotta admit myself though, that until recently I didn’t really use much of anything on my face, but as it is getting a little more wrinkled and dry I decided to use some great products as well that a friend referred me to. I especially like the wrinkle remover so I’m willing to tell about it. (http://90secondsmooth.com) but I look forward to trying your organic sunscreen recommendation as well. Thanks for the tip!
