I love this time of year at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. The weather is perfect–in the mid 60’s during the day, and high 30’s at night. The Aspens are bursting with color, and the air is just so fresh.

It is also the time of year that we start planning our trip home. Only two more weeks until we get on the road, headed to Georgia. This year, we are going to go to the house that we bought last December, and move in. There will be a LOT to do when we get there, and I can hardly wait.

Of course, before we leave, I’ll have to do the semi-annual “toss-out”. I go through all the drawers, cabinets, closets, etc, and toss out anything we haven’t used in six months. It keeps the RV neater, and lightens the load, which as you all know is very important. I have already started. It is never easy, but has to be done.

Getting ready always includes planning the trip route. We’ll be going all the way out I-40 again, with a stopover in Shamrock, Texas for a steak. The next stopover will be in West Memphis, Arkansas. We’ll be meeting up with our friends, Terry and Rob, to “do” Memphis. Thinking about seeing them, chowing down on some barbecue ribs and listening to some live blues at BB King’s place is making me anxious to leave.

The wood for the stove at the entrance station is ready, but it hasn’t been cold enough for a fire yet. I’m hoping that it doesn’t snow before we get out of here. There isn’t any in the forecast for the next 10 days, so maybe we’ll get off the plateau before the first flakes fall.

We’ll be stopping the first night in Flagstaff, for one last pizza at Picazzo’s. And of course breakfast will be at Miz Zip’s. After that, it will be all meals at home until we get to Shamrock.

Just two more weeks! It is hard to believe the season is almost over, since I didn’t really get started until mid August. I’m still feeling puny, and still taking pain meds every day. I really hope that when I get home and can rest more, I will start to mend more quickly. The doctor did say it would take at least a year for me to feel back to normal. So, we’ll see.
Just two more weeks!

Only two more weeks? Yikes! Well actually three for me.
you sound like me planning your route based on where you want to eat one last time =o)
