Buying a house in west Georgia has had its ups and downs so far. We have had our share of “no shows” on a variety of contractors while trying to get simple things done around the house. We waited a week for one to come to give us an estimate, and when he did, it was way too high. The second one we called actually came out and gave us an estimate, then called to say he would be here on Thursday. That was seven weeks ago and he still hasn’t shown up.Some days I wonder why we ever decided to become homeowners again.
Now that spring has arrived and flowers are blooming and the grass is growing, we are looking for someone to do property maintenance for us while we are gone RVing this summer. This has proved to be a dismal task as well. It is not easy finding someone to mow the lawn when you live so far out in the country. I know someone was doing it while the house was for sale, but we haven’t found out who that was yet. Maybe we could call one of those places that advertises houses for rent for a referral.
In the mean time, we’re thinking of asking our neighbor to take care of the yard work while we’re gone. They could keep an eye on things around the house at the same time, and that would give me some peace of mind knowing someone was doing that. Just the fact that we’ll be gone all summer is one of the biggest reasons why we haven’t bought any furniture yet. It will also be easier to have new flooring put in next fall if there is no furniture to move around. What household task could you live without ever doing again?

Cutting grass or any type of yard work!! Yuck!!
I’m not into yard work much, and I’d Love to have a maid. Good luck with this. Realtors should be able to make recommendations.
