Getting new glasses today made me think about all the different glasses I have had over the years. I couldn’t find a picture of me with my very first glasses–they were those black cat eye glasses that were popular back in 1965, the year I turned 13 years old. I hated them and wouldn’t wear them. But the second pair, shown here in 1968, wasn’t much better. I had them because my mother picked them out:
and here is an even dorkier pair from 1969:

If you wear glasses, when did you start wearing them? Did you get to pick out your own frames? Do you think you would have worn them more if you had picked them out?

Awesome post, Karen! I think I had your 1991 pair in about 1989! They were tinted pink and blue!!!
I became bespectacled in the 7th grade. Turns out I was getting into trouble just so I could sit in the “bad kid” seat, where I could see. My glasses are the first thing I reach for in the morning, and the last thing I take off at night.
