We went to Flagstaff for my birthday. On the way home, we stopped at Cameron Trading Post for lunch.
Cameron Trading Post is on the Navajo Reservation between Flagstaff and Page, Arizona. We have stopped here only once before in our travels.
The trading post has been in the same location since 1916, and has been a restaurant and lodging place for people visiting the Grand Canyon. It is right next to the Little Colorado River.
I didn’t take any pictures of the outside. On the inside, however, they have Navajo art adorning the walls in the restaurant. The rugs are exquisite, and are really beautiful. You don’t even want to know how much.
There was also Native American pottery, baskets, paintings, and metalwork. It would be very hard for me to choose one medium as my favorite.
We also admired the architecture of the building, and all the attention to details. This is the ceiling! Look how beautiful it is!
The furnishings in the restaurant were also very nice. It’s not every day that you find a place that is just so nice! All of the tables and chairs matched, and look at the paneling on the walls! That is not a shabby place.
They had a pretty good glass of iced sweet tea, too. It’s hard to find sweet tea in Arizona.
FabGrandpa ordered the chili cheese burger and fries–it was a very generous portion of chile over a hamburger.
I had a bacon cheeseburger with no bun with french fries. It was delicious!
After lunch we continued on our way home. This photo was taken on Hwy 89.
I love stopping at Cameron’s Trading Post. Really like their Indian Taco. But mostly love to look at all the jewelry, especially the old pawn. May have to look there for that birthday present I haven’t bought myself yet.
We are looking at staying in this hotel did you by chance take a look at the hotel. Just wondering ?
We only saw the hotel from the outside, but judging from the restaurant and the look of the hotel from the outside, I think it would be very nice.
