The first meeting of the Gluten Free Haralson Support Group was on July 10 at the Tallapoosa Library. I was so nervous that no one would show up for the meeting. I got there about an hour before it started so that I could get things set up. I had some membership forms that I made up so each person who came could fill them out. There were two door prizes with slips of paper for the attendees to write their names on and drop in a bowl.
I had tons of samples, t-shirts, and coupons for free product from several gluten free companies. It was such a great feeling to know that the companies supported me and the gluten free community by sending their products. Thank yous to Amy’s; Pamela’s; Van’s; and Triumph Dining! Being able to share the goodness with the people at the meeting meant a lot to me. Thank you so much!
We all introduced ourselves, told a bit about ourselves, and talked about how long we had been eating gluten free. We had a couple of people who are very new to the gluten free life, and that made me feel so good that I made this support group happen.
The next meeting will be on August 7, at 6:30 p.m. at the Tallapoosa Library. We will be bringing our cookbooks, recipes, and books about gluten free subjects to that meeting, to share and help each other learn more about gluten free cooking.
If you are gluten free and live in west Georgia or east Alabama near Tallapoosa, please make plans to come to the next meeting. I will have a few more gluten free samples, and another door prize to give away! I hope we can double the membership next time and have 14 people come!
