I finally got all of my travel projects finished, and packed my bags for my trip. Since it was almost 90 degrees here, and would be down to 40 degrees or so in Denver, I did not wear or pack a jacket. It wouldn’t have fit into my bag anyway. Even with be very selective on what to take, rolling my shirts, leggings, and knit dresses, there was not much room left in my suitcase. I also had my new tote bag, and my Bi-Pap machine bag. I wound up packing my toiletry bag and my hair brush in the Bi-Pap bag because that was the only place they would fit. Phew.
I drove to my son’s house about 45 miles away, and parked the car in his yard while I was away. My grandson took us to the airport and dropped us off. I was really glad to find the SAS Wheelchair Service as soon as we got there. The very nice customer service employee wheeled me all the way to the gate, going to the head of the line at the TSA checkpoint. I didn’t have to take off my shoes, but I did have to put all my bags through the x-ray machine.
We arrived at the gate about a half hour before boarding time. The plane was over sold, and the customer service rep was asking for four people to give up their seats in exchange for an $800 voucher and a guarantee of getting on the next flight, but we decided not to do it. Because I was in a wheelchair, I was allowed to board first, so being disabled does have some advantages. We didn’t get first class seats, but we weren’t in economy either. That just meant that we had a little bit more leg room. The seats weren’t any wider than economy though. It was ok on the trip from Atlanta to Denver, but if I was flying overseas, like on flights from New York to Paris, or a flight from San Franscisco to Paris, where I would be on a much longer flight, I would need to have more room, and I would hope that they would serve us more than pretzels and coffee. From where I was sitting, I could see the meal they served in First Class, and it looked so good!
We landed in Denver right on time. My daughter had to work that day, so my son and I used Uber to go from the airport in Denver to her job in Ft. Lupton. It was so easy to just open the app, push a button, and have a car appear a couple of minutes later. I had no idea how far it was to Becca’s job, but it was an easy ride right to the door. And paying was too easy. Just get out of the car. The Uber app is connected to your Paypal account so payment is automatic when you are dropped off. Then, you have quite a while to tip the driver if you wish to, I think it was five days.
When we arrived at the library, Becca took us across the street to the Mexican restaurant for lunch. It was fantastic! I ordered a Chili Poblano Relleno. It was cooked perfectly, crispy, with excellent sauce. After lunch, we back over to Becca’s library and waited for her to get off work. She was doing an after school program, and the craft was making a fidget spinner. Seth asked if he could make one, and of course Becca let her big brother do it with all the little kids. He was quite proud of his finished fidget spinner, but one of the kids broke theirs, and Seth gave the one he made to the kid. He was rewarded with a huge smile. And of course I missed the moment and did not get a pic!

I had so much fun! I have not traveled with my kids as adults in such a long time. It was really nice. They took good care of me.
