We have been thrifting several times, but I haven’t gotten around to posting the things we found. Fabgrandpa has been collecting birds, and is planting succulents in them. This one was just so ugly that it was cute, and he had to have it. What do you think?

This little birdie is one half of a salt and pepper shaker set. There was no sign of the other half when we came upon him in the thrift store. It was too cute to leave in the store.
The Blue Jay on a log is one of the more ornate, and bigger, bird figurines we have found while poking around in the thrift shops near us. I think it was $2. Do you think that was a bargain or a rip off?
This Mexican bird had a note taped to it that said “broken”, and sure enough, it is missing a foot. We felt sorry for it and brought it home. Beside, it’s from Mexico. How could you NOT get that one?
And while it is not a bird, the last one IS an EGG. So, the old question of “Which came first, the bird or the egg?” begs to be answered. It doesn’t have a plant in it yet, but will soon.
That is all for this week. What have you found in thrift shops where you live? Any really good bargains?

My favorite is the ugly bird! Love it, especially with its pretty plant.
This week, I scored a dehydrator at Goodwill for three bucks! I’ve always wanted a dehydrator, so I was thrilled with my find. Yesterday I tried it out with some banana chips. I didn’t have the manual that goes with the dehydrator, so I was winging it, but the banana chips came out okay. Next time I’ll slice them thicker. Still, I’m pretty pleased with my first attempt at drying my own food.

The Blue Jay is great. The ugly bird is at least better than the can.

Sarah, that’s funny! The can is an herb garden in a can that I was sent to review. I am growing basil in it.

What a fun post! I do love that ugly bird a lot and a great idea to put succulents in them. I am a huge fan of that so you gave me some ideas. I collect teapots and have found tons at thrift shops.

I love how you are using your finds – all of them! I haven’t been able to get to a thrift shop in ages, and I so miss it! It is fun to find little treasures that don’t break your budget!
