I am participating in a sponsored campaign for Beano. I received Beano product and other compensation for for my participation. However, all opinions stated are my own.
I have always been one of those people who is prone to have a lot of gas when I eat certain things. It just so happens that a lot of those certain things that give me gas are also some of my favorite things to eat. Before I had surgery and acquired a colostomy, I just let things pass naturally. You know, in the night. But, after I got the colostomy, things changed. I still get just as much gas, but it builds up in the airtight colostomy bag, and makes it look like a big fat tick it is so tight! The answer, for me, is to take some Beano +Dairy Defense chewable tablets before a meal that consists of those gassy foods. I know that I can depend on Beano +Dairy Defense to give me the freedom to eat the foods I want without worrying about the uncomfortable and embarrassing symptoms they can cause.
One of my all time favorite foods is a recipe I created for chicken, broccoli, and garlic. The broccoli and garlic create a lot of gas. Whenever I ate this combination, I was really afraid that my colostomy bag would burst open in the night because of all the gas it caused. Now, when I prepare this meal for me and my husband, I take two of the Beano +Dairy Defense tablets right before eating. I keep the bottle of Beano on the table, right along with the salt and pepper shakers. Beano +Dairy Defense contains two natural enzymes that help your body break down problem foods, combining the gas prevention of Beano with a natural lactose aid for double protection. Here is my recipe:
Chicken & Broccoli with Garlic
1/2 lb chicken breast tenders
1 head of garlic
3-4 tablespoons olive oil
2 cups broccoli florettes
1 teaspoon Chinese Five Spice Powder
2 tablespoons gluten free soy sauce
salt and pepper to taste
Cut the chicken tenders into bite sized pieces. Peel and slice the garlic cloves. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet. Add the chicken and garlic in the skillet with Chinese Five Spice Powder, salt and pepper. Stir and cook until chicken is cooked through. Meanwhile, steam the broccoli florettes in the microwave for 6 minutes. Drain, and add to skillet with cooked chicken and garlic. Stir well, and add soy sauce. Cover, turn heat down, and simmer for 5 minutes. Serve over rice or gluten free pasta.
