I have been ordering things from Amazon.com for many many years with no problems. But this one particular item, the freezer I ordered two weeks ago, is proving to be a pain in the you know what. I “could have” chosen the incorrect address for delivery of the freezer due to being on pain meds, but I really don’t think I did. I think it just got messed up.
The first inkling of trouble with the order was when the delivery company called to make a delivery appointment to an address in Greensboro, Alabama. To the address we used when we were volunteering at the Talladega National Forest two years ago. I told the delivery driver that we were no longer at that address and that they should send the freezer back to Amazon. The driver told me that they couldn’t send the item back to the shipper unless the shipper told them to.
So, I called Amazon back on November 1 and told them they needed to call the shipper and tell them to send the freezer back to them. The guy I talked to said that the shipper would “eventually send the item back” and then Amazon would issue me a refund. OK. So I waited.
Then today, we ordered something else from Amazon, and when I did I saw that the order for the freezer said it had been delivered and the order was closed. I clicked around on Amazon’s website looking for the number to call them again, and finally found a place where I could put MY phone number in and they would call me. They called almost immediately, and I talked to another nice young man, who connected me to the “large item” department.
The guy in the large item department put me on hold for several minutes, and then came back on the phone and told me that he had called the delivery company, and told them to return the item to Amazon, and that it had been only delivered to the dock of the shipping company. It would have sat there forever, I guess, if I hadn’t called Amazon back. So, now I wait for the freezer to be delivered back to Amazon for them to refund my money.
In the mean time, because I needed the freezer last week, after we found out it wasn’t going to be delivered to us here in Georgia, we went to a local store and bought another one. And saved $60 over the price on Amazon. And they delivered it the same day we bought it. Huh.

I love Amazon but I am a bit of a junkie being a Prime Member.
The neighbor had her treadmill delivered to the their old house when she moved here. I wonder if something is up with the large items? Can you delete old addresses in your account? I might have to go look to see in case I have any old ones in there.

I hope Amazon pays attention…cause your readers sure do!! Sometimes you have to call, many times, to get things done right today…what a pain!! I surely hope you get refunded and hope you won’t spend anymore with them, until you do!!

I’m sorry to read about this. I practically depend on Amazon.
