Thrifty Thursday

Oh, the joy of being able to pick through the thrift stores again! Today we headed over to the Old Navajo Trading Post on Route 66 in Flagstaff. Fabgrandpa had spotted a fishing reel there back in July, and has talked about it several times since then. We were both hoping it would still be there, and sure enough, it was. It is a Ambassadeur 5500C spinning reel, in like new condition. He got it for $25, which he says is a great bargain, because they cost around $65 and up new.

My best find for the day was a set of two tables. They are painted in turquoise and white and are perfect for bedside tables in my new bedroom. The large one was $35 and the small one was $24. Cute!

And last, I found these adorable piggy salt and pepper shakers, for $8 for the set. I know $8 doesn’t sound like much of a bargain, but they are being recycled and that is part of why I buy at thrift stores and antique shops.

About Karen

Karen Eidson is telling the world way too much about her, whether they want to know it or not. She writes about her life of living full time in an RV, eating a gluten free diet, things she does for fun, and things that are important to her. She makes you look at photos of her grandchildren, talk about her husband's survival of oral cancer, and shows you things she has made. You know you want to look.

Comments

  1. Guess there will be some fishing in the future. Cute tables. Really like the piggy shakers.

CUTE tables you found…we too enjoy us some thrifting shopping!! One of our daughters gets nearly all her clothes at thrift shops…but that is easier in her area (Seattle) for there are many good thrift shops around there.
