As we have always done when company comes to visit, we took Charlie and Lynda on a tour of the canyon. We decided to hike the Cape Royal trail. Now, before you get all excited and start telling me all about how I shouldn’t be hiking yet, let me tell you: the Cape Royal Trail is a handicapped accessible trail, it’s paved and relatively flat, and only about a half mile. And, there are several benches along the way for you to takeĀ rest. As you can see from the photo above, we all took advantage of the bench.
It was a beautiful day to be outside. The clouds were producing some thunderstorms on the South Rim, but here on the North Rim, it was gorgeous.
The canyon is deep. It is a very very long way down there.
We started seeing the lightening and hearing the thunder from across the canyon and realized it was coming our way, so we decided to start back towards the truck.
After one last stop at Vista Encantada to take a few more pictures, we headed back to the trailer. When we got home, I went to bed for the rest of the afternoon. We had a wonderful visit with our friends, and they had to leave all too soon. I wonder where we will be when we see them again?

That looks so wonderful! I would love to try that trail, I might be able to do that one.

It really is an easy trail. Even I could do it without collapsing!

I’m jealous of all that beauty you’re surrounded by. Some of my best childhood memories were of my parents taking me hiking in Colorado and Wyoming … someday I hope to see the Grand Canyon too.

Cat, I hope you get out here to see it. I dreamed about it all my life, and could hardly sit still when I was hired to work here. It truly is a dream come true for me.

What awesome photos you took!! Makes one wish to be there too. Glad you are up to walking more. So long as you rest a bit, you surely will do fine…it takes time to get over surgery…a process I have found and you have had such a tramatic one…glad to hear you are doing well!

Oh Karen, thank you so much for sharing these GORGEOUS photos!! I was fortunate enough to visit The Grand Canyon when I was very young but I don’t remember much. I dream of the day when I can go back and soak up all that beauty!
