It has been very moist around here for the lat month due to the monsoon season. When I was out walking the other day, I saw this colony of oyster mushrooms growing on a tree stump. It was the most mushrooms I have seen in one place.
My friend, Gaelyn, told me they are edible and delicious, but I am a chicken when it comes to gathering wild mushrooms. I just left them there for whoever wanted to gather them.
They just look too beautiful to eat.
What about you? Are you a mushroom hunter? Do you gather wild edibles? Do you know which ones are edible and which ones are poisonous?

While I do agree that these are VERY beautiful, I have never gathered wild mushrooms to eat. I always buy mine at the store because I don’t know the difference in which are good and which are bad. I do love seeing wild mushrooms though 🙂

They were absolutely delicious. But if you don’t know don’t go there.

I have no idea what is edible or non-edible. Yikes, I would need some help if I had to live in the wilds.
Beautiful pictures.

Lovely photos! I would have to do some research before eating them. I’ve seen pictures of the poisonous mushrooms, and they don’t look like your find. But, no, I probably would not take a chance without doing more research.

mushrooms are such an elegant and beautiful part of nature! When I was little. we would go every year and pick baskets of white button mushrooms out of the cow fields and the church yard. My Dad had picked them as a boy with his grandfather and knew exactly what to look for so that we would be able to safely enjoy our pickings. I would never gather mushrooms on my own, I just do not know how to tell the difference between the poisonous ones and safe ones, it was a fun time when I was a kid though!
