Because I love fresh pineapple so much, and because I didn’t know how to cut one until I was in my 50’s, I decided to show you how to do it. If you don’t own one of these pineapple corers you are going to need a big sharp knife. Your pineapple won’t turn out all pretty like the corer will do, but you can still get to the fruit and enjoy it.
Lay the pineapple on a cutting board or counter top, and cut off the top.
Next, turn the pineapple around, and slice off the bottom.
Set the pineapple on one flat end, and using the same big sharp knife, slice off the peel all the way around the pineapple.
When all the peel is cut off, cut the pineapple in half.
Cut each of the pineapple halves in half again.
Slice off the hard inner core from each of the pineapple pieces.
I like my fresh pineapple with a shake of salt. What do you do with yours?

I just learned how to cut a pineapple about 2 years ago after actually reading the little tag that comes on them.
I like mine plain with nothing on it. The juice is so sweet, much sweeter with a fresh pineapple than canned.

Yummmm…I just love fresh pineapple. And plain.

I will teach you another pineapple trick that I learned working in the restaurant when we served a fresh 1/4 of a pineapple. Instead of taking the peel off you simply quarter the pineapple — leaving the leaves on too because they look pretty and then use a grapefruit knife which is serrated on both sides to remove the core and to take the fruit off the peel but still leave it on top of the peel looking pretty!
And I really prefer mine topped with a scoop of rainbow sherbet!

I like it! And this method sounds a whole lot easier than the way I have been doing it. Thanks!

We lived a few years in Hawaii when hubby was in the Navy. Oh my those fresh pineapples were beyond wonderful…so sweet and juicy…we have rarely eaten any fresh ones since as they are picked too soon in order to air mail in I guess. One of my friends would chop up pineapples and watermelon, which she seeded, and mix them in a big bowl for all her parties…a very nice combo!!

I like to mix mine in some cottage cheese. Yummy!

This is how I cut my pineapple! I love fresh pineapple in fruit salad or with pineapple & fresh ground pepper 🙂
