I am one of those people who Must. Be. Doing. Something. all the time! Right now, I can not do anything, and that is driving me crazy. I want to sew, but I can’t sit at the sewing machine for very long at a time. I also can’t lift the mattress on the bed to get the sewing machine out. And if I could do either of those things, I can’t bend over to pick up things when I drop them, and I drop things a lot when I am sewing. So, I just sit here, bored to tears.
One of the things I CAN do is look at fabric online. I have found the cutest fabrics this week! Just look:
This one is called Jack and Jenny by Laurie Wisbrun. How freaking cute!
I could have so much fun with that fabric. I can see a baby quilt, diaper bag, curtains for baby’s room. Maybe some curtains for a sewing room, or a quilt for a teenage girl. So many ideas pop into my head when I see this cuteness!
And look at this set by Riley Blake called Seaside: I am thinking a quilt for my guest room at the new house, so my visitors can sleep relaxed by the ocean colors:
What would you make with these fabrics? What fabrics have you found this summer that have you wanting to sew?

Living in the rainy Pacific Northwest, I adore the Jack and Jennies. A cute backpack for a little girl or even a little purse would be fun. Hope you can get back to sewing soon, Karen. I am enjoying all of the sewing and quilting I’ve been doing lately.

I like to see and touch fabric before I buy any. Before I went on the road I had a whole cupboard full that I wound up giving away to a neighbor. Fabric stores up here are few and far between, there’s none in the little town I live in. Have to go to a small town west of us or to the big city and even then there’s only Fabricland (to my knowledge). I guess since everyone’s buying online, there’s not as much business for stores anymore.

Love the seashore ones. Since mmy internet stinks and I stink at searching and you are bored and excel at searching….you find me some really cute flannel fabrics, kind of like that seasside little flower fabric? Lol. How’s Jimbo? Did he come home?

You will sew again. In the mean time, keep dreaming.

When I was very huge with my first child (toxemia blew me up), I was not able to sit at all…only stand or recline. My mom was with me those 3 weeks and said it was time I learned to crochet. I am so glad she taught me…it has enabled me much enjoyment and it is the best arthritis therapy I ever heard of…so girl, no time better to learn than now. There are superb tutorials online to learn and my little grandson at age 10 taught himself basically…just by watching videos online!! Start with something simple, and with large yarn and big crochet hooks. Cheap hobby really. I use coupons at Michael’s…make hubby come too…we get 2 at a time, most are 40% off that way. Recently Hobby Lobby came to town with great coupons too!!

Oh, I love to crochet. I am working on a pair of socks at the moment but sometimes that pattern seems too complicated, especially after a pain pill.

I know what you mean about not being able to sit still with nothing to do. BORING!!! What a great idea to look at fabrics online. I like the blue green ones and envisioned making a small, lined pouch with a zipper that I can put misc. stuff in.
Is Jim home yet?

So sorry you are still in so much pain…that does make things difficult!! Glad you know how to crochet…that is such a great hobby!!
