Yesterday we had to go to Buchanan, our new home town, to find the water department. While we were there, we found the library too. The old courthouse is now the home of the public library. They had a really good selection of books and movies. They are also a part of the Georgia PINES Library System, which is great, because if you have a PINES card, you can check out books at any participating library, and return them to any participating library.
“PINES creates a statewide “borderless library” that provides equal access to information for all Georgians. Georgians with a PINES library card have access to materials beyond what is available on their local shelves and enjoy the benefits of a shared collection of 9.6 million books and other materials that can be delivered to their home library free of charge.”
Fabgrandpa and I have had Georgia PINES library cards for many years, and have used them all over the state. I love that if the branch we are near doesn’t have a book they can get it from any of the 275 libraries in the system. What a treasure!
I can’t wait to be able to go back, and check out the library calendar to see what programs are available there. I know I saw a meeting room, so there are possibilities there. We didn’t have much time yesterday, but I did manage to check out a book or two, including one with crochet patterns and a vegetable cookbook.

Awesome old building for the library. It’s one of the first things I look for in a town I live/stay in and have library cards from all over the west.

I love the library. Sounds like this one is special to have programs available and all. Amazing that they can check and bring in books from other sources as well. I wish we had a sort of universal library system for cards here. Great looking building
