At the risk of permanently labeling myself as the kid on the playground who has cooties, I have to say it again–I am itching. And I know if I ever meet any of y’all in person, you won’t want to hug me or shake hands. I’ll understand. I know it can be considered TMI, and that I have talked about it here, and here, but this is getting to be just plain ridiculous. I have been dealing with this for over a year now. I have been to three doctors, one of them twice, and I still have the problem with whatever it is. I have used every over the counter itch remedy known to wo-man, three different prescription medications, and even painted some areas with nail polish to try and make it stop. I’m seriously considering bathing in household ammonia just to see if that works.
The main reason I keep talking about itching is because I have found this to be very curious, that when I talk to other women my age face to face one one on one, almost every single one of them tells me, “Oh, yeah, I had something like that before. Well, then why haven’t I heard about it? Why is it, in 2010, still such a taboo subject that we don’t communicate about things that can make us itch. Why do each one of us still have to suffer in silence, scratching the night away, searching the internet for information when we don’t even have a clue where to start?? I know it is embarrassing, because I have been embarrassed. But I want answers. I want a remedy that will work, that will somehow, magically, cause me to stop itching.
I went to the pharmacy today and got a refill of the prescription ointment that was prescribed for me in Flagstaff. I talked for a bit with the pharmacist, who told me that the medication was most often prescribed to treat a fungal infection. She suggested that I take off all my clothes and walk around in the buff some to “air it out”. So, if you come to visit, it’ll take me a minute to open the door, okay?

Ummmmm Did you say TMI???? Now I know where the itch came from….it came from growing up with you in that saggy bed with cootie bugs 🙂 LOL Seriously, though, I have itches too….where is this itch??

We’ll honk as we pull up to give you plenty of time. LOL
I’m sorry to hear this is still bugging you. I’m sure you’ve changed all soaps and other products that contact your skin. Meds? Good luck with your search.

Bet Jim likes you walking around like that! I know my hubby would 😉 I am so sorry about the itching. I get itchies too and sometimes I itch so bad I just cry. And sometimes I itch/scratch so bad i cause myself to bleed….I got some stuff a year or so ago from the doc and it really helps. I will get the name of it and send it to you – all I remember is is that it is very expensive! Maybe that’s why it works.
Hope you are doing well. Merry Christmas.

Re: your itch. If it is in skin folds, keeping it absolutely dry with soft cotton other than a scant amount of your medication)may help. I used old white socks to prevent two skin areas touching for my mother when I was caring for her). Recurring yeast infections can be a symptom of diabetes!

Since you have a problem with gluten could the itching be related to other food allergies? I know itching is one of the symptoms.

I had a friend who had an itching problem and after many doctor’s appointments it turned out to be bed mites.

Try increasing your vitamin D – either the natural way with sunshine or with a supplement if that’s ok with your medical professionals, but it seems that a Vitamin D deficiency (which most of us suffer from) can make you itch like crazy!

Hi,
I stumbled across your blog. Hubby and I are new to the RV lifestyle. Anyway, I know EXACTLY what you are going through with the itching ( did you get the peeling yet? Ugh! ) and you know what finally worked? Plain ol’ over the counter Jock Itch cream. Make sure it’s Clotrimazole 1%. The Walmart brand ( Equate ) is about half the price of the name brand and works just as well. Don’t get the “extra relief” formula. It will burn. Put the cream on the affected areas and don’t stop using it once you feel better because it will come back. Gyne-Lotrimin 7 is also a very good product, but it’s hard to find in the stores. You can order it online from sites like Drugstore.com This can be a symptom of Diabetes and you should probably be tested. Good Luck 🙂

I get a random rash every now and again the worst time I had it it was on the left side of my face and I looked like I had road rash it was god awful. but every now and again I will feel the little bumps and start applying the cream. I hate it. There is no rhyme or reason to it. My mom calls it her creepin crud. Because hers started in bendies like the arms and legs but then would move across her body. It was weird and then poof I got it! Thanks MA!!
